Recap from TJ Hawke:

Story of the Match

This was a Young Lions Cup qualifying match.

These two did not wrestle with a tremendous sense of urgency. Cannon eventually got control and worked Eddie over for a while. Eddie fought back and both men fell to the floor after a back double fist from Eddie. The big spot of the match was Cannon giving Kingston a brainbuster on the non-padded floor. Ouch. They started trading head-dropping moves in the ring after that. Cannon then finished Eddie with a Shining Wizard.

Analysis

This match was really missing the intensity in the ring and the energy from the crowd necessary to make this kind of match work. At the risk of sounding really condescending, this felt like two indie guys trying to imitate a puro match. I don’t say that lightly as Kingston is one of my favorite Chikara wrestlers ever, and I’ve been digging Cannon’s work from this time period. This just didn’t work.

Match Rating: **1/2
